Specialties

Specific to beginners through early intermediate will maintain classical and traditional styles using variety of classical pieces to teach fundamentals, overall music piece expressions and nuance. Generally will teach from genre of jazz stylings depending on student's competence and desire.

Lesson Details

Lessons with me are just moderately intense, only to the point of balancing enjoyment of understanding with fun challenge. My students find that there is a heavy dosage of humor mixed with the concepts and instruction as well as many word pictures which produce easy understanding and thus, an ability to master technique. My students leave each lesson with an assignment and clear goals to work on each week.

With over 20 years in educational industries, I've enjoyed being able to work with individuals from children to adult and helping them to develop into the musician they desire to be. From my saxophone studies under Dr. Nathan Jones at Drake University where I pursued my bachelor of music education, to my continued performing, teaching, writing and arranging today, the opportunity to live my musical passion continues to grow. I've been a featured musical guest artist at Arts in the Alley, a ... local city talent recital, and also have taught students who have been featured performers at various musical events.
