Lesson Details

In lessons with me, you can expect to feel at ease, focused, engaged. I am here to guide you through the learning process. Asking questions is encouraged. I do not want my students to feel overwhelmed by pressure, but rather a healthy amount of challenge. I also know that patience, from the teacher and the student, is necessary for a positive outcome.

Based on your personal needs, level of experience and learning style, a lesson plan/curriculum will be developed to suit your musical ... goals. Setting specific goals within a time frame will help us progress and reach goals. Consistent lessons and practice are very critical to your growth and development as a musician. Within months you will see improvement, understanding and application of your craft.

So, based on my musical background, whatever style of music you are interested in, I have the knowledge and experience to start you on your way. And lastly, I love music and I strive to help others enjoy it too!

About

I have worked as a music educator for several years, to children of all ages, ensuring that they grow to learn and love music. I have taught piano lessons privately, in home and at music schools. I also worked for a music conservatory, bringing music assemblies about the orchestra to elementary schools.

I play piano, guitar, voice and also am a composer.

I began piano lessons at a young age, entering Booker T. Washington H.S. for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas, focusing on ... Classical Piano. Then I earned a Bachelor's of Music from Loyola University in New Orleans, majoring in composition and minoring in jazz piano. I performed in venues across the city with various jazz and pop groups. I also sang in the Loyola University Chorus and the Genesis Gospel Choir. Then I continued my education, earning a Master's of Fine Arts in Performance and Composition, at California Institute of the Arts. I studied contemporary piano and composition, sang with the Bulgarian Choir and studied Sargam (Indian Classical Singing). I have toured and recorded with bands up and down the west coast and have done recordings in Germany. I have also been commissioned as a composer by many new music ensembles.
