I started taking lessons from a private tutor by age 8 and progressed to playing for church by age 13 and added weddings and other occasions by the age of 16. After marriage I began attending a church in Maryland with my new husband and played for them for all services for 10 years, then moved on to another church nearby for 7 years for all services, teaching piano lessons to 26 students and playing for all occasions as I took on a southern gospel group playing and singing for local churches in the try state area. In my working career I played for Cardinal Gibbons school for their masses, graduations and other ceremonies. I now play in Florida for a local church as a paid musician for 6 years and now fill in as a substitute for a larger church while teaching piano lessons. Again I am involved with a southern gospel group traveling locally giving concerts upon request. It is the most enjoyable profession to play for young as well as the elderly seeing smiles on their faces along with them joining you in song and satisfaction. My hope is that I can pass along the gifts that I've been blessed with and teach as many students so they can too pass on their talents making people happy! *** Lesson Details *** I am a laid back piano teacher and will teach you at your own pace. There is so many things to enjoy from lessons with recitals to play in front of your family to add to your self esteem and take you into new levels of joy from the piano. The John Thompson books are my favorite and the Bach exercises are beautifully written and such a help to help you play fluently. After 3 or 6 months you will know your scales, chords and pretty songs to play for your own enjoyment and you will be pleased with your progress to play for others to listen also. If you choose to keep all learning private and prefer not to play in front of others this too will be honored. *** Studio Equipment *** Lessons with full keyboard with seating available for parents/spouses or family members. *** Travel Equipment *** I will bring my accordion for them to view and try if they aren't sure they want to purchase one, notebooks to sell, highlighters, pencils (free), stickers and awards. A church to hold recitals. Buy their own books online or at a music store of their choice, have their own instrument ready and a notebook with writing tools or they can buy them from me. *** Specialties *** Evangelistic, Honky Tonk, Classical, Country. Ear Phonics, music theory.
