Hi, my name is Ron. I am a drummer and trumpet player located in Oviedo, Florida. I have been involved in music since elementary school. I had my own band as a teenager and also played in several bands, which included rock, jazz, country and all occasion bands. Along the way I married, went to night school to finish college, worked full-time, was in the Air Guard and played music at nights and on the weekends. Currently I play drums and trumpet for the Faith Assembly Jazz Big Band and jazz combo, a music ministry dedicated to sharing the joy of music to the elderly in nursing homes, senior communities, and the local VA nursing home. I have also been part of the music ministry at my church. I have a sincere desire to teach and have held teaching and training positions in past professions. Teaching is a fulfilling endeavor. It is quite exciting and rewarding seeing an individual progress from the first beat or note to playing a complete song. Music is truly the universal language. I would be grateful for the opportunity to help you on your journey of learning and experiencing the joy of learning to play drums or trumpet. *** Lesson Details *** After much research, I decided to use the Drumsense program which is the best teaching program available. The teaching material is excellent and my training as a Drumsense tutor is on-going which insures that you as my student will be receiving the most through and up-to-date techniques. The structured nature of the Drumsense program helps to quickly determine your level of playing ability. This structure also gives you a clear road-map for your study of the drums. With the varied combination of grooves, fills, play-along and reading exercises, the variety of the Drumsense program keeps the interest level high, which is the most important learning ingredient. In addition to Drumsense we will be learning from an assortment of material from some of the best drummers around including Dave Weckl, Tommy Igoe, Stanton Moore, Rich Lackowski, Jim Chapin and others. After 3 to 6 months with consistent lessons and the all important practice time, you will be learning drum rudiments, stick control, syncopation, independence and play a variety of beats, and fills in addition to enjoying the play-along CD's that are available. *** Studio Equipment *** Music Room: Gretsch Catalina Club drum set, audio and video recording equipment. My personal trumpet is a Bach Stadivarius. *** Travel Equipment *** Student should have a basic drum set or trumpet, music stand, metrodome, and note pad. I will provide various CD's, books, and videos appropriate to the students level to use during the lesson period.
