Specialties
I teach students classical music as well as musical theater, jazz, r&b, and other pop repertoire. By starting with the founding principles of singing, students will be able to branch into most genres with ease and comfort. One of my most defining teaching practices is to help students with characterization and theatrical skills in their music making. I help students understand abstract ideas with drills and exercises that they can incorporate into daily practice. I also teach diction for

English, Italian, French, German, Spanish, and Latin. Vocal exercises will be utilized to teach breath support, breath control, connection/ phrasing, posture, and juggling all of this together. I have also taken a five semester theory sequence and am well equipped to teach theory from the beginner level through the undergraduate level.
My goals for my students are simple: to give them a basic knowledge of vocabulary and skill to understand music universally throughout their studies; to help them persist in an activity that will challenge them in new ways outside the classroom; and to teach show them how to use the art of music as a means of both personal and communal expression that can be shared with their community. I am inspired by my private lesson experiences and my studies in vocal sciences. My lessons are tailored and

age appropriate for each student including warm-ups, theory training, characterization and performance exercises. I hope that my students will strive to become well rounded artists who look past the music on the page and look inside for inspiration.
With seven years of performance experience, I have held title and supporting roles in opera, musical theater, and scenes productions. My roles include Tony from West Side Story, Aeneas from Dido and Aeneas, Charlie from The Family Reunion, Blind from Die Fledermaus, Oliver Warbucks from Annie, and my high school premier role as Prince Charming from Roger and Hammerstein's Cinderella. I have also participated in choral performances, pop shows, and even as a judge in several local talent

shows. I am currently a senior at Houston Baptist University studying vocal performance. My first private music lessons were in piano, but I soon discovered that my true medium of expression is singing. Under the suggestion of my elementary school music teacher, I was referred to try out with the local boys choir and sang with the organization for two years. During middle school, I took a break for some time from singing and picked it back up in high school. My re-acquaintance with music happened when a close friend of mine introduced me to the All-State Competition process and let me listen to a few recordings of her region choir experience. Enthralled by the choir's performance of Boito's "Prologue in Heaven" and Vaughn Williams’ “O Clap Your Hands”, I joined my high school choir the next year and have ever since become an advocate of music. Even as an undergrad, I have spent four years in practice rooms and study groups tutoring students in musicology and theory and teaching lessons to close friends.
