Education: University of St. Thomas, Bachelor of Arts in Music (Voice, Composition) I work as a freelance composer and a vocalist, with experience in teaching and performing in both choral ensembles and solo voice as a part of my education. I specialize in opera, art song and choral styles, but am knowledgeable in the different stylistic elements to a much broader variety of vocal music from pop to Renaissance and beyond, and can highlight the differences between each in as many ways as necessary to ensure students' learning. *** Lesson Details *** When I am working with a new student, I will vocalize with him/her to get a sense of the ranges, tones and phonation of each individual voice. Based on this, I will guide you toward repertoire that suits your musical interests and helps your voice develop through the different challenges that each piece presents. I am open to teaching whatever styles of singing that fit your interests, but all singing starts with healthy, balanced technique. I will also incorporate sight-reading drills with solfege to improve music reading ability and provide a way into learning music theory more in depth.
