I am a very outgoing friendly person and I strive for excellence in everything I do no matter how big or small the task. I am devoted to my work with my students and I want to share all of my knowledge with them. I feel that music is a gift that can and should be given to anyone and I am comfortable teaching lessons to any person of any age and with any ability. Lessons are structured around each individual student rather than following a specific curriculum. What may work with one student ... may not work with another and I am committed to providing the best music learning environment possible. I am very flexible when it comes to lessons and I am more than willing to teach anything the student would like to learn. If there is a specific song you would like to sing or play I will do my absolute best to accommodate you. I am laid back and flexible in my work however I do have some expectations from students when they take lessons with me. It is important that students take time to practice at least once a day and when they come for a lesson to be prepared and have all materials with them. Practicing and being prepared will help me lead you to success! I am looking forward to serving you and sharing my love for music with you!

About

I began my journey in music at a very young age. I started by taking piano and voice lessons as well as singing in a children’s choir which I participated in for 10 years. I have performed in many recitals, competitions, concerts and music theater productions. I began classical training in voice when I was 13 years old and took lessons at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs NY. When I graduated high school I attended Schenectady Community College where I obtained a 2-year degree in music ... performance for voice. In 2003 I moved to Rochester NY where I attended Nazareth College to study music therapy with a concentration in voice and secondary instruments of piano and guitar. I completed my undergraduate education in 2006 where I obtained a bachelor of science of music; specialization in music therapy. Immediately following my undergraduate work I completed a year long internship with Monroe BOCES # 1 at the Lois E. Bird Elementary School. During my internship I facilitated group and individual music therapy for children with various disabilities including autism, downs syndrome, as well as children diagnosed as emotionally and behaviorally disturbed. In collaboration with my internship I also began graduate school at Nazareth for creative arts therapy and will be done with the program pending completion of my master’s thesis. Currently I am a board certified music therapist and I work at the Jewish Home of Rochester primarily working with older adults. I provide a variety of music programs for the residents as well as conduct a resident choir and chime choir. Music has always played a large role in my life and my passion is to share my gift and love for it with others
