Specialties

I teach classical music in either violin or viola. I utilize many different beginner books such as "All for Strings" and "String Builder." The Suzuki books are excellent and will use them with all students. In addition to teaching classical performance, I can provide basic Music Theory lessons. I will incorporate some basic theory in lessons because they help general musicality.

Lesson Details

I teach classical music in violin, viola, or beginning cello. In addition to classical repertoire, I encourage students to play music they want to play whether it is a piece by Mozart or a favorite soundtrack from a movie. Basic Music Theory lessons are incorporated into the lesson because they are essential to musicianship. Music is a fantastic tool to communicate someone’s individuality. Learning a stringed instrument is both rewarding and frustrating; it requires an incredible amount of ... patience and hard work. Great musical accomplishments can only come from efficient and adequate practicing. Lessons are to expand the student’s musical awareness, appreciation, practicing methods, and enjoyment. I want all students to feel comfortable to promote a better learning process. The outcome of private lessons is dependant almost entirely on the student; as each student has different goals. My primary objective is to coach and clarify the means of achieving the goal.

Raymond M. is a graduate from West Chester University with a degree Viola Performance. Before playing the viola, he studied the violin for many years. His teaching experience includes beginners to intermediate level students in various ages on both violin and viola. He has participated in various orchestras including Temple University Symphony Orchestra, West Chester Symphony Orchestra, Lower Merion Symphony, and Pottstown Symphony Orchestra. His chamber music activities include various ... ensembles such as String Trio, String Quartet, Guitar Quintet, and Piano Quintet. He is an experienced competitor in the MTNA Young Artist and Chamber Music Competition. Awards include Alternate in the 2009 Chamber Division, an Honorable Mention in the Young Artist 2008 Division, and a National Finalist in the 2009 Young Artist Division. During his time at West Chester University, he had the opportunity to sit principal viola for the Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra. His private studies involve Sylvia Ahramjian (The Juilliard School), Dr. Ovidiu Marinescu (Bucharest Conservatory), and Evelyn Luise (Curtis Institute).
