    About Phil P.

I have taught for 34 years full-time and have had over 700 students. I teach in the comfort of YOUR home on YOUR instrument! I am known for making teaching fun and enjoyable. I teach with an emphasis on fun, with plenty of positive reinforcement and less emphasis on rigid practice requirements. As the student progresses, I like to keep on eye on their preferences in musical styles and songs, and include such as ongoing incentives. Students typically become comfortable in the lessons quickly and I am known for my humor, such as it is. :) Plus, I have endless patience for the learning process. I also teach music theory and composition being a composer, myself. I arrive on time, consistently. I believe everyone's time is very valuable! I began playing the piano at age 5, but soon switched to playing the organ. (My mother played piano and my father the organ at our church for 20 years.) I switched back to piano at age 13, as our church teen class needed a pianist. (I have continued to play for churches ever since for a total of 46 years.) I attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, where I finally began taking lessons, having been self-taught up to that point. My major was piano until my bachelor year when I switched to composition. I received my BA in Music Composition in 1978. I am currently the worship leader at our current church and have recorded one gospel CD (I Am Fully Persuaded) and am nearly finished with a second contemporary gospel CD, Father Knows Best. *** Lesson Details *** Lessons are set-up in either 30 or 60 minute increments. I arrive on time with a smile and a positive attitude as I am looking forward to seeing each student. :) *** Specialties *** Jazz, classical, popular, gospel, rock, country, alternative
