Trumpet with Parris F.

Hello, my name is Parris F. I am a recent graduate of Columbia College Chicago, receiving my degree in Instrumental Jazz Performance. I've been playing the trumpet for 14 years and have taught lessons on and off for the past two years. Currently I am a full-time musician, splitting my time between freelance gigs around the Midwest and touring nationally with my band, The Heard. When teaching, I focus on the fundamentals of the instrument to help teach the students to "tame" their instrument. If the student is ready and interested, I also teach jazz lessons, helping the student to expand their knowledge on jazz music, history and improvisation. These lessons include teaching the students jazz standards, jazz theory behind improvisation, and transcriptions. How far the student and I go is completely up to them and lessons are customized to reach the students specific needs.
