My teaching style is flexible in that I understand that no two students are the same. Each individual comes with a unique gift for musical expression that I must helped them to hone accordingly. In my overall approach, I use the Integrated Method- a teaching tool that makes use of the five senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. This approach makes lessons fun and energetic because students learn to access many tools to make music come alive. For contemporary/pop keyboards and music ... theory, Mark Harrison books are used. For classical piano, Alfred and Bastien curriculum is used per student's grade level. Within six months a student can expect to play both scales and commonly heard melodies along with basic chord progressions by ear and sight.

Hello, my name is Ontario A. and teaching music geared toward the 21st century is my passion. By bridging classical techniques and jazz traditions with modern pop sounds heard on radio and television today, I help students achieve their goals of playing the music they love to hear. I specialize in coaching beginners through the steps necessary to become lifelong independent learners and performers.

It is my desire to help people at any stage of life to overcome learning road blocks and time ... management obstacles to increase their level of musicianship. Although, I work with all ages, I find particular enjoyment in helping adults who have deferred their musical aspirations due to life's responsibilities and now seek to fulfill their musical passions.

My first piano lesson at the age of seven, led me to purse studies at Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge, Musicians' Institute in Hollywood, California and privately with Mark Harrison of Harrison Music Education Systems. I currently reside in Los Angeles, CA, where I share my love for music by nurturing the creative talents of my students.
