Soprano Monique Michelle’s voice has been described as rich, powerful, moving with an expressive face that pulls the listener in with her intense focus and captivating eyes. Most recently Monique was featured in Arias in Motion, as an emerging artist in OperaWorks intensive summer program in Los Angeles, CA. Monique performed the role of “Serena” in Bowling Green State University’s Festival Concert Series presentation of The Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess. Her heart wrenching performance of “My Mans Gone now” was one of the highlights of the night. Monique was also featured as an ensemble member in Handel’s Acis and Galatea, and in Donizetti’s E’lisir d’amore also at BGSU. In 2011 Monique received a second place prize for the NATS regional competition in the advanced men and women’s category. Monique's love for the stage also crosses over to musicals with her debut as the Angel in I need you to Survive. Monique has been a featured soloist in churches across Ohio and as an advocate for classical music in urban communities she has performed free community outreach recitals in Dayton, Bowling Green and Toledo, OH areas as well as Detroit, MI. Monique has also performed solo work extensively throughout the United States and Italy, singing a variety of repertoire ranging from baroque to 20th century. She is a member of Mu Phi Epsilon Professional Music Fraternity International. With other members they created an annual clinic for local elementary schools kids interested in music. Monique received her Bachelors of Music Performance in Voice from Central State University in Wilberforce, OH. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and as a gold chord scholar. Monique will receive her Masters of Music in Vocal Performance from Bowling Green State University in Aug 2011. Upcoming Events for Monique include a duet recital with tenor Gregory J.
