Monica is an outstanding voice teacher. She customized each lesson, from warm ups to repertoire choices, to fit the age, skill level, vocal strengths, and interests of each singer. Watching her work with high school age students is a joy--she loves what she does and the students respond very well to her. They are enthusiastic about going to their lessons and beaming when the lessons are over. Monica brings her strong vocal pedagogy knowledge, along with her own talent and passion for teaching to the voice lesson. She is a wonderful instructor. Highly recommend!

Besides being a fantastic vocalist, Monica is also a great teacher. She is very creative, patient and calm (no drama), but is still disciplined and persistent. She managed to get basic music theory into my thick skull and help me with sight reading, and did not yell at me when I didn't do my homework! The only downside is that she is so talented and well trained that she makes singing look effortless.

Monica is such a fantastic teacher. She is one of those people who really listens to the needs of the student, and gives her all at every lesson. Through her knowledge and experience, Monica has rebuilt my voice and my confidence from the bottom up. I highly recommend working with her!

    Voice Teacher

    Sep, 2014 - Present

    National Children's Chorus

The National Children's Chorus has chapters in Los Angeles, New York, and Washington D.C. I serve as the voice teacher for the New York chapter. Students receive 10 minute private voice lessons once per week . Members of the NCC are expected to perform at the professional level upon acceptance, and already have a clear concept of beautiful tone, accurate intonation, crisp diction, and gorgeous musical phrasing, in addition to possessing experience-based confidence and assertiveness as a solo and group performer. Students are taught the highest levels of sophisticated choral technique that is utilized in all of the world’s finest adult choruses within the context of complex music featuring 2, 3 and 4-part harmony. Singers participate in multiple performances and projects throughout the year at professional venues such as The Broad Stage, The Edye Second Space, Royce Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, and Grand Performances at the California Plaza, among others. Private vocal study, advanced Kodály technique and a full range of musicianship courses are included as part of the curriculum.

    Highbridge Voices

The Highbridge Voices music program offers students in grades four through twelve a comprehensive music education. Each student participates in a choral ensemble and studies music theory, music history, ear training, sight reading, and vocal technique. I serve as one of 4 voice teachers. Through practice and performance, Highbridge Voices students become talented and skilled musicians who are able to perform music at high levels of artistry. While the immediate goals of the music program include creating excellent choral music and developing music literacy skills, the long term goal of the music program is to foster a love for music and fine arts—a value the students can take with them, no matter what college and career path they choose.
