With a recent Masters Degree from the University of Southern California in Music Performance, I enjoy performing music as well as teaching both new and transfer students! I grew up in a musical family, playing piano since the age of 5, and French Horn since I was 9. I have been teaching for many years while earning my Bachelors and Masters degrees, as well as the last two years since I graduated. Lessons involve a well-rounded education in reading music, music theory, and music history. Students and parents can tailor the lessons to their own needs and wants, and repertoire can range from Classical to Pop music depending on the client. The reason I teach is to provide access to music to anyone who wishes to make it a part of their lives in whatever way they like, I make sure the student has fun while learning a skill that can benefit them for the rest of their lives. *** Lesson Details *** Lessons are tailored to each specific student, and since no two students are alike, neither are they ways they learn best! My main goal in lessons are for the students to have fun while learning a skill they will have for the rest of their lives. I make sure that music theory is taught from the very beginning in order to give the student a well rounded musical education. We will work out of lesson books ranging from technique and classical, to popular and jazz. I allow each student to grow in the direction they choose in order for them to get the most out of each of their lessons. This means that I listen very closely to what the client wants to get out of their lessons, and am very flexible to adjust things in order for the student to have fun and learn at the same time. Along with repertoire I like to use flashcards, matching games, and I even have a music board game I created that is especially fun for children ages 8-15! *** Studio Equipment *** I do most of my teaching at the clients' homes, but I do have a large keyboard for piano lessons, and a music stand for French horn lessons. *** Travel Equipment *** For piano lessons, the student should preferably have a piano, but a keyboard works as well. For French horn lessons, the student should have or rent a French horn as well as own a music stand. *** Specialties *** I specialize in Classical music and theory.

An amazing learning experience! Miranda is an amazing teacher. She has tons of patience and learning from her was so much fun. I HIGHLY recommend Miranda and have told my friends and co workers about her. If you want a piano teacher that knows what she's doing and is so down to earth, Miranda is the one!

Reliable and Motivated Miranda is so friendly and engaging -- she is willing to work with all skill types and ages, and made me feel so comfortable. She picks out great music to learn, sets reasonable (yet challenging) practice goals, and we never have to cancel or reschedule unless it's my own conflict. Moreover, she is such a warm and kind person and teacher that lessons are a highlight in every week. She has experience working with young children and older learners (or re-learners!) alike -- you'll love watching your skills develop under her guidance!
