Hello! I am a 35 year old music teacher. My studio is a large space with lots of seating and is at a professional commercial location, (Main St. in downtown Hillsboro, OR). I have been playing music since 3 years old. At that age I started my first piano lessons at St. Marks Church in St. Charles, IL. My teacher, Sharon, was the first of many piano teachers I had over the next 12 years to come. At age 14 I started on guitar. I still play keyboard and guitar often and this makes up the majority of my students. I also have ukulele students as well as people who just want theory lessons. I started teaching music full time as an independent contractor at Watz Up Hillsboro Music in 2010. I taught at that location for almost 4 years before they closed. The owners retired and I still keep in touch with them. The solution for me and one other teacher from that store was to get our own music studio. We ended up getting a place on the other side of the street from where Watz Up was. It was sad to see Watz Up leave, but now we have a nicer space that can accommodate larger groups and recording capabilities. The system used for recording is a custom built PC on a MS extreme board and can handle dozens of tracks at extremely high sample rating. We also have dual compressor as well as dynamic microphones of professional grade. Guitar provided. If you are still shopping for your guitar and wish to borrow one, this can be arranged. I am a father of a 4 year old as well as a 15 year old. I work well with children and have taught music to very young ages. The response has always been pleasant and parents like being able to sit in on classes. I also have experience teaching music to people with disabilities. I am not offended easy and I am slow or impossible to anger. I understand that some tasks are difficult for certain people and I will always try to be as encouraging and supportive as possible in their musical progress. I am a Christian, though I will never bring it up unless the student does first. So if you want to worship with music I can accommodate these wishes as well. Contact me for more information.
