Lesson Details

In my book, there's no one path to success. I take the "Follow The Child" approach, and work to fully understand the personalities, goals, and strengths of my students in order to customize their experience. That being said, there's no getting around technique! Whether it's voice, piano, acting, or dance, we've got to start with the basics. I aim to make this process as fun and as pain-free as possible!! Don't expect to do simple scales for the first few lessons... with me you'll do scales with ... meaning! While continually building proper technique is essential, I don't believe in holding my students back-- expect to begin tackling songs within the first month, whether or not they're "performance ready". We'll take an integrative approach to your training, enabling you to move forward quickly in terms of expression, while always revisiting the technical staples. Most importantly, you will be encouraged to grow and explore (even outside of lesson) the depths of your personality and experience, ultimately enhancing your artistic life and creativity.

I hail from the SF Bay Area where I began my artistic journey at the age of three, wearing a pair of tap shoes. At five I began piano lessons, and in 12 years time had completed up to the advanced level in the Certificate of Merit Evaluations. I also continued to dance, competing in tap, jazz, and ballet until the age of 13, when I transitioned full-time into the wonderful world of Musical Theater! I completed my BA in the UCLA Ray Bolger Musical Theater Program, where I was blessed with the ... opportunity to embrace such roles as Daisy Hilton (Side Show), and Little Sally (Urinetown).

In terms of what I have to offer my students, it begins with a big smile and a huge amount of energy, enthusiasm, and passion. The arts have transformed me not only as a performer, but as a person, and I believe in a complete mind-body-soul approach to all artistic training. I aim to understand not only my student’s performance-based goals, but their emotional reasons for tapping into their musical side as well. Fostering a love for the meaning behind the music at a young age provides the best possible foundation for future artistic success, and sets the stage for a lifetime of musical enjoyment.
