I currently play with the Syracuse Symphoria Orchestra and teach at my home. Although I only have regular times as listed on Mondays and Tuesdays, due to our symphony schedule, I am willing to arrange flexible lesson times on other days around my rehearsal schedule if needed. I received my Bachelors Degree in Viola Performance from Syracuse University, and my Associates Degree in Violin Performance at Onondaga Community College (originally a violinist). I absolutely love music and want my students to love it too! I am always impressed to see how music positively affects people in their day to day lives. I am patient, versatile, and can work with the most casual beginner, to an advanced student who may want to take college auditions. I especially love animals, children, coffee, and books. *** Lesson Details *** I help students set personal goals and design lessons to meet those goals. Together, the student and I choose a practice amount time and routine. Beginning students can expect to learn proper posture, basic music theory, aural skills, and one octave scales. They may play some easy solos in Suzuki Book 1. Students will them progress to two octave scales, Wolfhart or Mazas etudes, and may play works from Handel, Vivaldi, and Telemann. Advanced Violin students will work through Kreutzer and Dont Etudes, complete their 3 octave scales and arpeggios, and work on larger student concertos such as Bruch, Mendelssohn, and Mozart concertos. Advanced Viola students work on Bruni etudes and either the Walton,Bartok or Hindemith Concertos. Students should have their own instrument, music stand, pencil, and notebook. They should expect to purchase a shoulder rest and lesson book(s) after our first few lessons. *** Specialties *** Standard Classical Repertoire Orchestral Excerpts Russian School and Suzuki Style Appreciation for different learning styles and abilities Patient and Creative approach to lessons

Excellent Teacher Jessica is a truly wonderful teacher. She is thorough, understanding, & patient. She answers all my questions with full explanations. (My previous teacher simply said that beginner's music is written that way.) She is able to identify my weak spots & I fully trust her because not only is she a teacher, she also professionally plays & she knows exactly the form I need to play correctly. I am never disappointed after a lesson & after studying with her, I can see much improvement.

Highly Recommend We are very fortunate to have found Jessica a year ago, She teaches our 3 children (ages 15, 12 and 10) and they have really grown to love the instrument and their lessons with her. We've found her to be gentle, encouraging and patient with a sense of humor in her teaching. She is knowledgeable and highly skilled. And this is apparent in how far the kids have come in their playing. Their school's music teacher has really commended them on this. Most importantly they love her and their lessons with her and this is very much appreciated since I know my two younger ones are sensitive and would rather discontinue lessons than be with a teacher they don't like.

Couldn't ask for a better teacher I was in sixth grade when my mom first got a private violin teacher for me, and, admittedly, I was very reluctant; up until that point, I had never thought about pursuing violin too seriously, and I was terrified that my teacher would be an emotionless and mean person who would expect nothing less than perfection. However, the first time I met Jessica, I realized how great of a teacher and how sweet of a person she really was. She helped me realize my full potential, and always motivated me to practice so that I could improve. She opened so many doors for me, and I wouldn't be anywhere near as successful with my playing without her. Thanks to Jessica, violin has become such a significant part of my life, and I will definitely continue to play for years to come.
