I specialize in classical music, of course this includes anything from Medieval to Modern.
I am currently studying the Suzuki Method of teaching, which is how I began my studies on the violin. Every Child Can is the philosophy of Suzuki teaching, and I will always apply Suzuki principles to my teaching. I believe that musicality and playing are to be learned before note reading. I will employ a lot of listening and repetition.

Lesson Details

When I begin with a new student, I like to get to know them. Expect questions about learning style, favorite music and future goals. I expect a lot out of my students but only because they WANT to learn and succeed. I have an amazing ability to come up with as many ideas as it takes to help a student learn a new skill or fix a problem with technique. I am very intuitive and have worked with all different personalities. Be assured that I can work with you!

Beginning students can expect ... to do lots of listening to music, clapping and other fun activities. I will play along with you on my violin or on the piano. There is nothing more satisfying then playing real music with another musician and realizing how far you have come. Expect nothing less then my best.

Hello! My name is Meagan and I love music. I started learning violin at a very young age, and have never been able to put it down! Piano came soon after and I love it just as much. Music is such an important part of life, and a one of a kind way to express yourself. Music lessons are not only about learning to play an instrument, but learning to understand music with your heart and soul. Have you ever wanted to learn how to "play" the color purple? I can help you learn to do ... that!

When I began learning music I started with the Suzuki Method. Dr. Suzuki had an amazing insight into a young child's mind: that every child can learn, just as every child learns the intricate nature of their mother tongue. The main concept of Suzuki is that "Every Child Can", meaning that musical talent and ability is very much a result of the teaching environment. Even if you are a teen or adult beginner my "adapted" Suzuki method is VERY fun and will have you playing the songs you love!

I am very experienced in performing, I have played as a soloist for all occasions, including weddings, orchestral concerts, parties, busking, chamber music, private concerts, music festivals, trophy classes, and many other types of venues. I have had great success coaching students on performance and how to professionally carry yourself. I also have a very solid background in Music Theory and would love to help anyone learn. The most important aspect of music theory is relating the technical to the emotional parts of music. Whatever your goals I will help you achieve them!
