Having earned a Bachelor of Music from Georgia State University, Matthias has become a leader in the field of guitar pedagogy. His book and DVD, Metal Guitar Method has set a new standard in electric guitar education, and has sold thousands since its publication in September of 2012. As the Head of Guitar at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, his students are educated in many different styles and genres of music, and perform regularly in recitals. His compositions have been performed by choirs and orchestras and have also been broadcast on radio and television stations such as Cartoon Network, WSB, AIB, and The WB. As a professional composer, Matthias is a member of The American Society of Composers, Authors, & Publishers. *** Lesson Details *** Matthias' Atlanta guitar lessons are perfect for kids (10+) to adults. Whether you're wanting to just strum a few chords or become the next virtuoso, you'll learn solid technique to help you achieve your goals. Fun and energetic, his passion for music is evident in his instruction. *** Studio Equipment *** The guitar studio at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center is located in the historic gardener's cottage. Nestled in the Virginia Highland and Druid Hills area, the Callanwolde mansion and gardens provide the perfect backdrop for learning the guitar. *** Travel Equipment *** For all lessons, the student will need to provide two chairs without arms (folding chairs work great), and a music stand. For electric guitar lessons, the student will need their own amplifier. A footstool is recommended for students to have, but not required. *** Specialties *** Classical, Rock, and Metal guitar styles. For beginning students, a universal approach is taken so that the student can be exposed to different styles and genres of music.
