Hey, I'm Matthew! I'm happy to have the opportunity to work with you toward your goal of choice. I list a number of areas that I can help you with because there are a lot of things I've worked with in my life! MUSIC: I've been playing the drums and piano for over 15 years. I played for years as a drummer in concert bands, jazz bands, small ensembles, rock bands, and church praise bands, and have taught it for 8 years. I've played piano in a lot of settings, too, and have a great fluency with different styles and the ability to both read music and play classically as well as improvise and have fun with pop music. I'm also a singer and a guitar player. Needless to say, I bring a lot of passion, love, and dedication to teaching music because it is one of the things I love most in life. WELLNESS/NUTRITION/LIFE COACHING/ENERGY WORK: I have had an incredible amount of experience with alternative medicine (and Western medicine as well) from a very personal perspective. I suffered from chronic illness for years and had to figure out how to heal myself. I gained experiences with almost every healing modality you can imagine, and so I feel confident in saying that I can offer insight and help you with whatever problems you're dealing with physically, emotionally, or spiritually. I have received training in Reiki, Matrix Energetics, and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), among others. (I am also a psychology student and a deep thinker, so I'm not scared of emotional or spiritual issues, either!) CHESS: I've been playing chess for over 15 years. For a number of years, I also played in tournaments and achieved a moderate level of success locally. I have taught classes in chess in the past and have a great knowledge of all aspects of the game. I would to engage you with this exciting mind game! ACADEMICS: My strongest suits in academics are in language and civics. I have worked as a part-time proofreader and editor for several years now, and have always gotten 1st Percentile (best of the best) marks on all tests relating to English. I write a lot, and have experience with essays, research papers, fiction, and more. I am a published poet. I also have a great knowledge of the American government system -- if you name a state, I can name one or both of its U.S. Senators. History is another area I do very well in. So if you have any need for tutoring in these areas, I would be happy to help! I also participated in competitive speech in high school, so I can be very helpful when it comes to writing and giving speeches with confidence. OTHER STUFF: I have a certification as an TEOFL instructor (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I lived in Chile for a summer, so I speak passable Spanish, too. I love language and am very good with all aspects of it.
