I am a recent graduate of the University of Idaho where I earned my Bachelor of Music degree majoring in instrumental music education. I graduated in December, 2008. Before I returned to college to get my degree, I taught music in two private schools. I also worked for a non-profit organization that was contracted by the Redwood City school district where I taught classroom music to second and third grade kids. I also taught recorder to fourth grade kids. I have taught group lessons on band instruments and strings to kids ranging from third grade to fifth grade. I also taught elementary band and elementary orchestra in this same school. I also maintained two studios where I taught guitar and bass guitar to private students ranging in age from school age to adult. I hold an Idaho standard secondary k-12 music credential and a California TC1 single subject music credential. I also am a first year BTSA participating teacher. During my time in college, I took courses in educational psychology, instrument pedagogy, and band methods along with the core courses required for my major. My major instruments are the trombone, and the string bass. At this same time I participated in the Walla Walla symphony as a bassist, and I also worked for Holland America and Cunard cruise lines as a show band musician. *** Lesson Details *** My two major instruments are the trombone, and the bass. I teach both electric bass and string bass. I teach styles of music from rock to jazz, classical and funk. As a brass player, I have taught brass instruments from trumpet to tuba.
