Her graduating seniors have been awarded major scholarships at Juilliard, Eastman, Oberlin, New England Conservatory and Boston Conservatory. She delivers high quality private clarinet instruction as well as group lessons providing the best advice to help students achieve their individual goals and to have the the right tools to succeed in the music program. My Teaching Background: Maryanne has taught clarinet private lessons, masterclasses and clinics in the Pacific Northwest for over 20 years as a private clarinet teacher for several schools including Hamilton, McClure and Eckstein Middle School. Maryanne's Teaching Philosophy: “I believe in teaching the whole student and not just the fingers. For serious students, it is imperative that they learn how to be a good musician. My philosophy in teaching is to give each student the right tools that fit their personality and level of playing. I am aware that not everyone wants to be a professional clarinetist and so I plan a lesson to each students level of playing in order to help them to progress in a comfortable manner that promotes the joy of learning how to play the clarinet.  Orchestra experience Federal Way Symphony (principal) 2010 to present Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra (principal) 1999-2012 Northwest Mahler Orchestra (assistant principal, Eb and bass clarinet) 2001-2011 Phantom of the Opera Orchestra (principal) Really Useful Company-NYC 1994-1999 West Side Story Orchestra (principal)Wolfgang Bocksch Concerts-Germany 1999-2000 Boston Opera Orchestra (co-principal under the direction of Sarah Caldwell) 1978-1980 Tanglewood Summer Orchestra (principal under the direction of Aaron Copland) 1978 Conductors Aaron Copland, Sarah Caldwell, John Williams, Adam Stern Additional performance experience Camerata Musica Chamber Music Series (Salem, OR) 2012 Haller Lake Chamber Music Series (Seattle) 2012 New York City Debut Recital, Americas Society 2011 Skaneateles Music Festival 2010 Soloist, Mozart Clarinet Concerto (played on basset clarinet) with the Princeton Philharmonic 2009 Monadnock Music Festival 2009 Merkin Hall, 2008 world premiere recital performance (New York Concert Review Magazine) Summer workshops and master classes at University of the Pacific (California) Tanglewood Summer Festival 1978-80 Temple University summer workshop with Anthony Gigliotti 1984 Boston Conservatory, New England Conservatory, University of Massachusetts (Amherst)-teaching assistant.
