About Me

Mary Anne is a Colorado native who believes a
person's surroundings influence one's creative juices. What better place
is there to gain inspiration from, than the Rocky Mountains, roaring rivers and
soaring eagles of majestic Colorado?

Mary Anne is a classically trained violinist but
also loves to explore other styles of music. She has performed as a
soloist as well as in group settings such as in an orchestra, small string ensembles
and even in rock bands. She loves ... to
teach classical music with emphasis on the Suzuki method, and various forms of
fiddle. She graduated from the University of Denver with a Bachelor
degree in music and has studied and performed in Milan, Italy. Being able
to physically be in the place where genius composers such as Vivaldi, Mendelssohn
and Mozart gained inspiration, gave her a deep appreciation and understanding of
their timeless compositions of music. Music is a passion in her life and
she works to spread that passion through her teaching.

Lesson Details

Mary Anne is laid back and friendly in personality yet serious and passionate
when it comes to music. In lessons the
student will focus on principal and passion. Both are essential for
healthy development in music. She is strict on foundations such as good
positions, scales, rhythm, and note reading yet desires to instill inspiration
so that the student can play with heart and soul. T.S. Eliot would not
have been able to write his magnificent poetry without the foundations of
vocabulary and ... grammar.

Mary Anne asks that students be patient in their musical development and she
will do the same. A beginner student's first
few months of lessons will focus on the foundations of holding the violin
correctly, developing a correct bow stroke, stance and posture while learning beginner
pieces of music which slowly develops note reading and rhythm training. Learning to play the violin takes many years
of dedication and at times can be daunting, however, the fruits of perseverance
makes it all worthwhile.
