Welcome, students of all ages and abilities, from beginners to advanced, all those who dream about learning how to play violin and enjoy music! Besides regular lessons I offer preparation for entrance examinations to music schools and colleges in Europe and USA, scholarship and orchestra auditions, ABRSM, IGCSE, A-level exams etc. I am familiar with almost every system and style out there, be it Suzuki, Royal or anything in between but of course I myself come from the great Russian school of
playing and I use a lot of its style in my teaching. However, fear not, I am not strict at all, only encouraging and trying to bring out the best in each and every student.
I also teach online lessons now via Skype and am available nationwide and internationally!
Have you always dreamed about learning to play violin with a professional and passionate teacher? Then I would like to meet you!
My name is Mariam and I am a professional musician/violin teacher with a Master's Degree from the University of Texas in Austin. I have lived and taught violin all over the world, worked in the Austin Waldorf School and in the Redeemer Lutheran School in Austin among other places. For the last 5 years I was a part of a String Faculty as a Violin Professor at the
Mahidol University in Thailand. Of course, all those years I kept performing and making music as a soloist, chamber and orchestra player.
Being a musician, I got to travel and to live all over the world. During my vast experience in many countries on three continents I have come across all kinds of people interested in music. Beginners and advanced, professionals and amateurs, adults and children. Some of them felt attracted to it by a yet undiscovered force, some searched for the last pieces of mosaic that would complete the whole picture of their lives. To some of them, music has finally given answers while to others it posed even more complicated questions. But, as Ludwig van Beethoven has put it, "Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy."
I believe music has a uniting power over us all, how ever different we might seem at first. A good performance is a reminder of an incredibly benevolent guiding force behind. And sparkling eyes of a child (or adult), proud of his first major achievement on this path are totally worth hours of hard work and even occasional frustration.
That's why in my teaching I try to guide and nourish what Nature has given, sharing with my students knowledge and appreciation of this wonderful art. It is my belief that even if one has a rough day, once a person enters this incredible world of music, he or she will always be truly happy.
"If you look deep enough you will see music; the heart of nature being everywhere music." Thomas Carlyle
