I am a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, educator, and studio musician who believes that music is what connects us all. From performing to teaching, I love to share my passion for music and creating safe, welcoming experiences for everyone. As a musician who plays many different instruments (saxophone, flute, clarinet, guitar, piano, voice, accordion), I believe that music is what you make it. Everyone's experience is different and ever-changing -- so is your relationship to music! Students should be taught with relevancy to their own lives and changing interests while maintaining artistry and personal integrity. Since graduating from Temple University with a B.M. in Music Education and Jazz Studies (saxophone), I have performed with jazz ensembles, rock bands, and my own indie rock projects. I love using my knowledge of music theory and traditional music background to inform my more modern songwriting style. Because of my diversified training and skillset, our lessons can go in many different directions! If you are a student who is interested in learning instrumental technique or wants to play your favorite pop song, I am here for you! I have taught 0-55 year olds in various settings: K-8 general music, early childhood music classes, preschool classroom, private lessons, workshops, after school programs and summer camps. I love teaching and will probably never stop! *** Lesson Details *** I believe it is important to solidify the foundations of music, so that the student can grow into a knowledgeable, expressive musician. My lessons are taught with a personal and energetic approach leaving the student excited and eager to further explore music. I always make sure that the student is having fun! I will help my students become better musicians, week by week, as long as they are willing to practice and come prepared for their lessons. *** Studio Equipment *** I will provide a metronome, tuner, music stand and some music books/repertoire. Student may need to provide their own lesson books. *** Specialties *** I specialize in classical and jazz techniques, improvisation, composition and songwriting. ****Cancellation Policy: Out of common courtesy, please notify me at least 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel and/or reschedule a lesson, and you will NOT be charged. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, you will be charged for the lesson. If you fail to notify me of cancellation (NO-SHOW), you will be charged for the lesson as well. Bottom line, please communicate to me through call/text/e-mail in ADVANCE if you need to cancel a lesson in order not to be charged for the lesson. ************************** CANCELLED LESSONS (24hrs in advance) = If you have contacted me at least 24 hours before our lesson takes place, you will not be charged, and this lesson will be rescheduled. NO-SHOW = You have NOT contacted me in advance and you will be charge.

Maria is my first sax teacher and i loveeeed her. She is extremely patient, and knows how to teach (which is so important). She also inspires me for jazz solo pieces. I remember one time she just asked me to improvise and great music was "forced" out of my horn. She is a great teacher and I would def have kept taking lessons from her if not she moved out of town. I am really hoping that she will return and do lessons with me again.

I can't say enough about how great Maria is! She was quickly able to assess my ability and create a unique lesson plan catering to my goals. Each lesson was informative, fun, and most importantly- helped immensely with my playing. I happily recommend Maria to anyone hoping to expand their musical horizons.
