About Marc L.
4.7
(8)
Marc is a graduate of UC Berkeley, and recently completed his Master of Music in Piano Performance at Cal State Long Beach. He has been teaching piano students for the past seven years and has worked as a rehearsal pianist and accompanist. He specializes in classical piano, but also has experience in musical theater and jazz ensembles, and has performed on period instruments (harpsichord and fortepiano).
*** Lesson Details ***
Students of all ages are welcome, and will find Marc to be as laid back an instructor as the student's drive will allow for. Those aspiring to become accomplished pianists will be given a strict regiment of exercises to work with, while those for whom music is more of a hobby can expect a more laid back lesson; he's always up for discussing the history and influence of the music at hand. For young beginner students (ages 5 to 8), he will tend to assign pieces from the Suzuki Method series of pieces as well as selections from Bartok's Mikrokosmos and Schumann's Album for the Young. There will be an emphasis on proper technique; if good technique is habitual for a pianist, he or she can express his or herself so much more effectively through the music than if one must constantly think about how to hold the hand and move the fingers.
*** Studio Equipment ***
Living room: Knabe Grand Piano
*** Travel Equipment ***
I can bring some exercise books (or photocopies) to students homes. I expect the student to provide the piano, as well as to eventually buy the music that I lend for the time that he or she is my student.
*** Specialties ***
I am primarily a classical pianist.

Patience, Patient, professional, helpful, positive
He has a lot of confidence in his student. His mannerism is very calm especially when you make a mistake. He is very positive and always say you can do it even when I mess up so when I get home and practice, I say oh yes, I can do it. Thanks Marc
