I have been hooked on music since my first violin lesson at the age of 5. The years following have been filled with a number of incredible experiences, from participating in music festivals abroad to developing a passion for teaching violin and viola. I believe music offers a wonderfully unique way to grow and express ourselves at any age or level. It is an experience everyone deserves. Having graduated from DePaul University's School of Music, I continue to play violin and viola as I teach and freelance throughout Chicago. *** Lesson Details *** As a teacher, my goal is for students to love learning and creating music. I believe every lesson should be engaging and leave the student wanting to learn even more. Playing violin and/or viola is a fantastic way to connect with others, explore different cultures and genres, and learn about ourselves. I encourage my students to explore the world of music and find their passion, whether classical, folk, rock, or jazz. I structure my students' curriculum on an individual basis. Depending on each student's learning style, interests, and level, I design an appropriate combination of Suzuki and traditional methods. I emphasize correct physical form throughout my lessons, so as to promote excellent technique, a beautiful tone, and avoid injuries caused by tension. I require my students to bring their own notebook/practice log, where I write notes, reminders, and practice suggestions so as to make the most of each lesson. Most of all, I do my best to make each lesson a special and motivating experience, and of course a time to have fun! *** Studio Equipment *** My studio includes music stands, seating, and room for parents to wait during the lesson. *** Travel Equipment *** I provide the starting workbooks for my students, which usually cover the first two or three lessons. Students will need their own instrument, stand (for home use), and eventually their own workbook. *** Specialties *** I specialize in teaching beginning through intermediate levels of both violin and viola. I enjoy working with all ages, from young beginners to adults. Though my studies have focused on classical, I also take a great interest in playing and teaching rock, folk, and contemporary music. I structure my students' curriculum on an individual basis. Depending on each student's learning style, interests, and level, I design an appropriate combination of Suzuki and traditional methods.
