    About Lori S.

Hello! I'm Lori and I am a Graduate Performance Diploma student (grad student) The Boston Conservatory for clarinet performance. I have my master's from Boston Conservatory and a bachelor's in music performance and education from University of Massachusetts at Amherst (with a minor in psychology). I am a former public school teacher with a teaching license in K-12 music. I taught in public school systems for 2 years before realizing I love performing and teaching one-on-one more than the classroom setting. I love seeing individual growth, whether it is from myself or my students. Growing up, I've played violin, clarinet, and saxophone mostly. I was one of those kids that loved tinkering with new instruments and sounds. In my spare time, I am a computer nerd. I love video games and arrange classical instrument arrangements for video game, movie, and television soundtracks. I also am teaching myself Java Script and other programming languages. *** Lesson Details *** Each student is different. I find the best learning comes when the student loves what he or she is doing and has their own set goals. These can vary from playing in an All State band to playing Frozen (sorry in advance). With positive intrinsic motivation, the student is able to grow and love music without limit. *** Travel Equipment *** I can provide my own instrument to demo on. The student should have all necessary supplies, music, and stand. I am able to provide some photocopies and materials, but may suggest a book or two to purchase. *** Specialties *** Classically trained with marching experience, Pre-K to grade 12 licensed, 4 years experience working Pre-K to grade 5 (public), 2 years experience working grade 9 to grade 12 (public)
