Violin with Liz S.

Liz S. was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia where she began her musical education with piano at the age of 7. She then later joined her middle school orchestra program in 6th grade to learn violin. Through the Lassiter High School Orchestra program, she was able to participate in competitions and orchestral exhibitions such as the Midwest Clinic in Chicago, Illinois, the American String Teachers National Orchestra Festival in Dallas, Texas, and the Georgia Music Educator’s Conference. During high school, Liz studied privately under Sou Chun Su, assistant principal of the Atlanta Symphony. Liz then attended the University of South Carolina where she studied with solo performer Dr. William Terwilliger, and with Mr. Ryan Kho, concertmaster of the Augusta, GA symphony. In addition, she participated with the USC String Project and studied with Dr. Gail Barnes. Liz graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelors in music education and a performance certificate in 2008. For the past 6 years, Liz has been the orchestra director at Canyon View and Oak Canyon Junior High Schools in Orem, Utah. In addition to teaching in the Alpine School District, Liz worked for a time with the Utah Valley Youth Symphony and played with the Utah Valley Symphony. She and her husband recently moved back to Georgia where she currently clinicians for multiple Cobb County Orchestras including Walton, Lassiter, Hightower and McKlesky. In addition, she performs with the Georgia symphony orchestra and teaches private lessons.
