    Lesson Details
The thing I have learned over the years teaching guitar is that everyone learns differently. I have taught in family situations where there are two or three siblings learning at the same time, but each sibling learned the skills that are unique to them. Some students are better at playing rhythm, some students are better at lead, some students are better with barre chords. As long as you are enjoying playing the guitar, you will be able to grow in every area at your own pace. Music should be a ...
    About
    Hello:
I have been a guitar and voice instructor for over 15 years. I really love this job! I had a real hard time learning guitar when I was growing up because of an accident to my left arm, but I wanted to play so much that I was able to overcome it. Because of this I think I have learned to be a very patient teacher. I see students who get frustrated and think that it's too hard to play the guitar, but I promise you my program is fun and simple.I can show you the steps to success. I have ...

  • Rated 5 out of 5 by 8 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Uplifting and encouraging Lisa has shared her love of music with my children. She is one of the most upbeat, patient and encouraging teachers I've met. Her range of expertise on a variety of instruments is ever expanding. My daughters truly love coming to piano lessons to grow their skills with Lisa. There are always smiles and laughter in the room. They don't complain about practicing because they enjoy learning currently popular songs as well as the classics. They look forward to showing their teacher that they can perform a skill or song. The recital was not a typical recital, because many of her students play guitar and sing as well as play piano. It was like an 'open mic' performance for solos as well as a variety of collaborative group performances. I like the variety of options that are offered, as my daughters may want to learn the Ukelele or improve their singing voice, we could remain with Lisa's tutelage. We feel lucky to have found Lisa as a creative and talented teacher. May 8, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Highly Recommended! Lisa is absolutely wonderful! She chooses music that both interests my daughter and is appropriate for her skill level (beginner). My 13 year old is motivated and progressing quickly, and best of all, she is self-motivated when it comes to practicing! May 18, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Instructor that enjoys teaching I have been taking voice lessons from Lisa for the last few weeks, and I am very pleased with what I have been getting out of it. I am a 30 year old software developer that randomly decided to start playing guitar a couple of years ago. Now I've decided to learn to sing to go along with that. Lisa has been very encouraging during our sessions while also showing me what I need to work on. If you're an adult that doesn't know much about singing, don't be afraid to take voice lessons from Lisa. February 26, 2011

  • Getting Started

Excited about jumping into music lessons? Before you can get to the guitar tabs, violin concertos, and vocal riffs, take a moment to think about the logistics of your lessons.
    Lesson Length
There are a few things to consider when choosing between 30-, 45- or 60-minute lessons. First and foremost, take your age and experience level into account. You'll also want to think about your long- and short-term goals, and the time you'll need to reach them. Most importantly, consider how long you or your child is able to stay focused.
    Lesson Location
Teachers have the option to display availability for in-home, in-studio, and online music lessons. In-home lessons take place at your house, in-studio lessons are conducted at the teacher's home or professional studio, and online lessons are taught over the internet via live video chat.

We make paying for your lessons convenient and hassle-free! Lessons are paid for in advance, which locks in your time slot.
    Signing Your Customer Agreement
Signing your Customer Agreement and completing your Student Questionnaire is the last step! The questionnaire will give your instructor valuable information about your goals and experience level, and give him or her time to create a customized lesson plan right from the start.

    Start Your Lessons

Now the excitement can really begin! Consider the following to ensure an exceptional first lesson...
    Prepare for Your First Lesson
Once you've completed the last step, your teacher will call you within the next couple of days to confirm your first lesson time and provide you with directions to their studio, if needed. We also encourage you to discuss your goals and any other questions you may have.
    What To Expect
Every teacher is different, but most first lessons begin with an assessment of where you are in your studies. At a beginner level, you might review the basics of your instrument, such as the different parts, how to hold it correctly, and proper care and maintenance. For voice, this may be the time you learn about breathing and posture.
    Reach the Goals You Set
Every TakeLessons student is unique, and so is your lesson plan! You'll work with your instructor to develop a plan suited to meet your specific goals. Most TakeLessons instructors will also keep track of your progress with a lesson journal.
