Lesson Details

Your curriculum will be the same as any course of study from a conservatory of music.
Beginners will start with Books 1 and 2 of Suzuki, supplemented by easy performance pieces - some of them duets with me! I will teach you the joy of performance and help you to nurture the love of music to accomplish your dreams!

Intermediate students will study etudes by Dont, Sitt, Sevcik and eventually Kreutzer and performance pieces by Seitz, sonatas & concerti by Bach, including the Bach Double ... Violin Concerto. Your studies will then lead you to the Handel Sonatas and the more advanced concerti, including the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto.

My advanced students will study the Carl Flesch Scale System, more advanced etudes of Kreutzer and the Dounis etudes. Your performance pieces include the Bach Unaccompanied Sonatas & Partitas, including the Ciacona, Vivaldi's The Four Seasons and eventually the Wienawski 2nd Violin Concerto (a real show stopper!) I will have you playing right off the upper edge of your fingerboard!

This is just a small sample of the repertoire of study I use. I will also enter my students in the local youth orchestras and organize chamber quartets and trios for you to perform with other students in the area. I will also enter you in local competitions when you are ready.

Adult teacher, William Barbini, studied with Galamian at Eastman and several other teachers at Juilliard, including the co-concertmaster of the legendary NBC Orchestra under the direction of Arturo Toscanini. Mr. Barbini performed with the New York Philharmonic for 28 years under the direction of Pierre Boulez and Zubin Mehta.
