I have a Bachelor of Music degree from Iowa State University and over 10 years of experience teaching piano. I have always enjoyed teaching music to little kids, their pure love of music and excitement about learning something new is just contagious. I have 2 little girls myself and they remind me everyday why music is so important in children's lives. I was born, grew up and learned to play piano in Ukraine. During my lessons, I strive to combine the "tough but fair" approach that I grew up with in Ukraine with "fun and interactive" teaching approach that I learned in US. I also have a Bachelor in Business Administration from University of Iowa. Throughout many years I have been able to apply my passion of teaching in other fields, including Math, Algebra, Calculus, Geometry and Statistics. I have a unique approach teaching mathematics to children as a result, my 4 year old daughter presently doing 1st grade math. Math, is like music, all around us, if I can help children find that "missing link" they can be truly successful at both. *** Lesson Details *** I thoroughly prepare for each lesson and each student as I understand that each person is unique and has their personal learning style. I try to include note reading (speed reading for advanced students), solfege, piano skills, rhythm, music theory/history in each lesson. My lessons are fast paced and I found that precise assignments and home work are essential to student's progress.
