My name is Leon, and I've been teaching piano jazz pop blues and classical, for over 15 years. I have a talent for communicating music to a wide variety of minds. I enjoy working with children, teens and adults. Many of my students come from 'off the beaten path.' Everyone learns differently and respond to new information in their own way. I'm flexible, challenging, and I enjoy what I do. I love teaching. I'm not strict and I always work with the students to find how they will best enjoy the process and arrive at their goals. *** Lesson Details *** I am flexible, caring and competent. People learn in unique ways and have unique goals. My style of teaching is validating and noncompetitive. yet, we push to succeed and become the best, most creative pianists we can be. Jazz is my specialty, and my first choice is working with people who really love jazz. I teach classical music as well as composition, songwriting and music theory. Are my lessons for you? Lets find out! For new students: 1. Always bring a dedicated notebook for our course and a pen. 2. Review it each week, once. 3. Practice the minimum of one practice session between lessons. 4. Ask questions! Make sure you don't try to prove to me you get something. A bad question is any question that you don't ask me ten times, 5. Don't miss out on learning something or trying something because you want to impress me. My goal is to help you! For adults: It is so easy for adults to give up. No one wants to feel like a beginner. But it can be a great chance to be a kid again and learn something new. It won't be instant. It won't be easy, but my job is to make it fun and move as quickly as we can with integrity. For parents: I teach children who want to learn piano. So far I've been lucky, and I can often bring out a love for music - but that's what this is: music. If you'd like it to be rocket science, I can recommend a few wonderful, angry Russian piano teachers who would be a perfect fit. I tend to prefer things to be a little more fun. Learning an instrument is made every moment when we believe in our ability to overcome ourselves, be present, have fun and learn! Best, Leon R. *** Studio Equipment *** My piano, color coded keys for educational purposes. I have two other pianos, as well as a small software setup for digital audio production. *** Travel Equipment *** I have a traveling keyboard rig if you don't have a piano, but please for the love of the craft, get yourself a piano! you'll never regret it. *** Specialties *** Piano - jazz, classical, blues, pop. Composition, Arranging. Improvisation, Songwriting, Musical Theater, Sound Design.
