Experienced Bowed Stringed Instrument Teacher Adapts to Your Needs and Goals

About Me

Laura has taught classical, bluegrass, country or jazz/rock styles to hundreds of students over the last 30 years and will work with you to determine how to meet your music lesson goals. She holds a bachelor's degree in music from the University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and a master's degree in music education from West Virginia University. She has taught privately since 1980 and has been teaching school orchestra classes for 10 years. She is certified to teach Suzuki violin, played professionally while living in Nashville, assisted in developing the Jazz Fiddle Wizard Junior series books published by Mel Bay, and is a continual student of string pedagogy.

Lesson Details

The key to successful lessons is setting goals. I can accommodate all learning styles. However, there is no substitute for regular practice between lessons and it is a requirement of my studio. Students under age 10 must be accompanied by a parent during all lessons. Lesson format and focus will depend on the goals set between teacher and student.
