    About Kriszti B.

Versatile, goal-oriented music instructor with a B.A. in music education who can provide a sound learning environment while using innovative teaching techniques to encourage active student participation. Experiences in solo, chamber, and orchestral performances on various instruments including piano, violin, viola, cello, and double bass. Master of Arts in Teaching candidate with special interests in musician's health. *** Lesson Details *** I love teaching beginners how to sound musical, how to play musically, and how to express themselves through music! Aware of how different we are from each other, I use a variety of teaching philosophies, methods, and approaches to help organize the best possible lesson plan for each student's goals. I emphasis clear goals so that tangible expectations can be made and demonstrated each week! Just as there are many differences among people, there are many different ways to reach a goal. Some are better than others and so I use these "better" proven methods and approaches to create a practice guide that helps students develop their musicianship and meet their goals! Music teaching methods I employ include but are not limited to Orff, Gordon, Kodaly, Havas, Suzuki, Rolland, and Bornoff. Piano method books that I have had positive experiences with include but not limited to Alfred series and Royal Conservatory series. While it is not necessary to have music theory knowledge in order to be able to perform well, it does help enhance musical experiences. Therefore, I aim to integrate music theory within each lesson in alignment with student's goals. *** Travel Equipment *** Students must provide their own instrument (including bow, case, rosin for strings), method books (which I can recommend), and notebook with pencil for practice journal. I use both audio and video recording to help with feedback and progress assessments. In addition, I can bring a tuner and metronome for the first few lessons but strongly recommend students acquire one (either by purchasing a device, downloading app, or using online application).
