Lesson Details
With guitar students I use a wide variety of texts and songs depending on the student's focus . I have worked with series by Aaron Shearer, Mel Bay and Robert Benedict. Music ranges from artists like Sergio Mendez to Neil Young to Smashing Pumpkins and Green Day.
With vocal student's I also use a combination of songs that they want to learn as well as songs that further challenge vocalists to expand technically. Songs range from Mozart to Ella Fitzgerald to Paul Simon and Hannah Montana.
Kim has been a Los Angeles private music instructor for TakeLessons since 2008. Kim is a certified local music teacher.

Guitar, Voice, Songwriting, Music Theory Singing and playing- Blues, Rock, Country, Jazz, Classical. I use the Aaron Shearer series (Classic Guitar Technique), the Mel Bay series, as well as books by Gary Turner and Benton White (Fingerpicking Guitar), Robert Benedict (Sight Reading for the Classical Guitar) I also use songs that they want to learn and transcribe and write-out chord and lyric sheets for them.

Very supportive and encouraging instructor. I really like being able to learn and work on music that I enjoy. I'm starting to see progress even though it can feel like a slow process at times and there's a lot to learn at once. I definitely see that learning just one or two new things at a time works best for me. Would like to figure out a way to work in a little bit of singing instruction as well.

How To Sign Up
Review the TakeLessons teachers in your area. Find the teacher you like the best and either book online or call/email a TakeLessons Student Counselor to book your lessons. You will then choose a day and time that works best for you, select your lesson package and pay via credit or debit card to book your lessons.
After you have booked your lessons, your instructor will contact you within 1-2 days. This gives the instructor a chance to introduce him or herself, and make sure everything is set for your first lesson.
