Learn how to play any song you want from a ASU music graduate with a repertoire of over 1,000 songs

Two tracks: classical or contemporary (or a combination of both if desired). Classical piano has an emphasis on scales, sight reading, and preparing pieces from the baroque through the 20th century. Contemporary piano has a different emphasis on chords, theory, improvisation, and learning popular songs of the student's choosing. I can teach pop, jazz, and music theatre.

Kierstyn St. John is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer who possesses a repertoire of more than 1,000 memorized songs in every genre from classical to jazz to contemporary/pop. She has played piano for twenty five years, and has been extensively classically and jazz trained, studying everything from Rachmaninoff to Bill Evans to Billy Joel and all that's in between. She is also proficient in guitar, bass, and drums. Kierstyn has played thousands of gigs including weddings, memorials, official ASU events, private parties, hotels, restaurants, large festivals, and church fairs. She was the principal pianist for Northminster Presbyterian Church for four years, the worship director at Roosevelt Community Church, piano teacher in residence at Sunshine Acres Children's home, the keyboardist in the dance band Uncorked, and the pianist in the ASU Latin Jazz Combo. Kierstyn now gigs regularly with her own jazz pop duo, Zoetic, who has more than 30,000 combined followers on social platforms and more than 500,000 streams on their original music. Kierstyn graduated summa cum laude with Bachelor's of Music in Composition at Arizona State University. Since attending college, she has been commissioned by Ironwood and Imagine Prep high schools, The ASU Barrett Choir, The Phoenix Art Museum, Brelby Theatre, and The ASU Art Museum. In 2014, she won the statewide Four Seasons Women's Composers Competition, and her string quintet "The Monarch" was performed in September by their professional orchestra. In 2016, her score for the Brelby Theatre premiere “Poseidon's Regret” received a nomination for an ariZoni Award. In 2022, her original song "Worth It" made it to the semi-finals in the world's largest songwriting competition, ISC. Kierstyn has taught over 100 students to play piano, guitar, drums, and more over the past ten years. She keeps the students engaged by teaching them the songs and pieces they've always wanted to learn! She can teach classical music, jazz music, and popular music, and she often mixes them to give the student a well-rounded music education that is also fun and engaging!

Though it was a short haul due to logistics issues, Kierstyn made me ready with the basics with the help of a song I love.
