Voice, Piano, Songwriting, and Musicianship (Ear Training/Theory) Faculty
Nov, 2014 - PresentCornish College of the Arts
I teach private lessons (voice, piano, songwriting) to undergraduate majors, as well as Musicianship classes (combining theory, ear training, piano), and the Art of Songwriting class. In the past, I have also taught Vocal Jazz Ensemble, Piano Classes, Ear Training Classes, and a vocal technique/artistry and music business course for ALL freshman vocalists (called "VOX"). I teach vocalists how to work with other musicians (band) to develop repertoire, musicianship, and style. We also talk about commercial releases, branding, recording/producing, and music business. I teach Piano classes (Piano I, II, III, IV) to Cornish music majors (whose second instrument is piano) since Spring 2017, and Ear Training I & II (to all incoming freshman, all instruments) since Fall 2018. I developed and taught a course called The Art of Songwriting in Fall 2018, for upper-level music majors to work on writing, producing, recording, and performing their original music. There was also a music industry/career development component to the course.
