About Me

I have been playing violin for over 17 years, and have been teaching students of all ages and levels for over 12 years. I have taught as young as 4 years old and as old as 80 years young, from fresh beginners to professional musicians seeking advice on their technique and careers. I will teach the basics to beginners, prep applicants for auditions or competitions, give guidance to professional musicians like myself, and instruct students for steady and reliable violin learning.

I've ... studied, performed, and played in the USA, Japan, Italy, France, Germany, Czech Republic, and Argentina in the classical, jazz, tango, mariachi, bluegrass, rock/pop, electronica, gypsy, film soundtracks, and musical theater genres. I've worked with big and small names, I think the most interesting being GRAMMY® performers Marco Antonio Solis, Joan Sebastian, Alejandro Fernandez, Philip Quint, and Pinchas Zuckerman, as well as world-renowned artists like Hauschka, Ida Levin, Jeremy Constant, Korey Ireland, Johannes Ernst, and various large and small ensembles at UCLA, USC, and Colburn.

As a professional musician, my experiences in such a variety of places, genres, venues, and with people contain lessons I share with my students. My philosophy is that anybody can play music, and my job is to teach what my students want to learn, from reading and writing music to performing the pieces and songs they want to play.

My background in transcribing, improvising, and arranging music comes in handy for tailoring my lessons to fit the goals of my students, as well. Lesson Details

Music should be fun! Although it can be challenging, learning an instrument is one of the most life-enriching experiences one can have, and it's my job to show you how to do it with wonderful success and satisfying gusto!

My training was with the Suzuki Method, but I am comfortable with almost any method book. My focus is more on details of my students' technique and progress towards their musical goals.

My philosophy, as I mentioned, is that anybody can play music. Everyone has ... different combinations of natural talent that can be used to their advantage to help the student learn the most efficiently. Once I identify these traits, my goal is to enhance these strengths and teach skills to overcome difficulties.

My teaching style is in a relaxed atmosphere, and I will make reasonable demands to improve your growing skills. Although I believe that what you put into it is more important than anything I can say or do for you, I'll work with my student every step of the way!
