Julia is a music educator based out of Vancouver, WA and has been teaching since 2009. She received her training from Washington State University, where she earned a Bachelors in Music. Julia teaches all experience levels from beginner, to intermediate and advanced, and also has experience working with children with special needs. Julia has studied voice under the private tutelage of Greta Matassa, Dr. Sheila K. Converse, Dr. John Weiss, and Gene Wright. Julia has also studied trumpet with Lance Buller and jazz piano with Dr. Charles Argersinger. She worked as a vocal soloist for Sacred Heart Baptist Church in Pullman, WA, sang with the Seattle Womens’ Chorus, and crooned at Tula’s Restaurant and Jazz Club. Julia was an avid performer in the School of Music at Washington State University, including the Library Atrium Recital Series, Concert Choir, Musicals, Operettas, and the Cougar Marching Band. ***Lesson Details*** A personalized plan is made for each student depending on their goals and level of commitment. Intensity varies depending on what the student's goals are, and how much the student is available to fit in practice time. Some students are singing/playing competitively, and some are just singing/playing for fun! At each lesson we will tune and warm-up, and review the practice assignment from the previous lesson. Julia will congratulate the student on their improvements and then use a variety of methods to help the student become more comfortable with any potential trouble spots. The next part of the lesson will be used to introduce new material. Most lessons take place at Juia's home studio. For an additional fee, lessons may be booked at the students location or home. Please note: -Vocal lessons require a piano. Vocalists requesting in home lessons need to own a piano; a keyboard may even work depending on the maximum decibal output. -All piano students must have a keyboard or piano available to practice outside of lesson time. -Guitar players also do need to own a guitar in order to practice outside of lesson time.

We’ve had a handful of different music instructors for our kids throughout the years, but Julia is by far the best. She’s interested, engaged, skilled and fun. For 7 years, she’s poured into our daughter and instilled a love of music that I know will be lifelong. Whether you’re looking for in-person or online, she’s incredible but - she’s especially gifted at online courses (compared to other instructors we’ve had), so don’t shy away from working with her if distance is a factor! I can’t say enough positive things about Julia!!

The teacher was unaware that I paid for lessons that were 45 minutes in length. She thought that they were 30 minutes. The music that she sent me only had the first page of each piece. I liked her very much as well as my son did. First lesson so I don't know that this is a fair assessment yet.
