Joshua began studying privately in 1993. He has studied at a number of prestigious summer music festivals under Julliard, Louisiana, and New York University professors. He graduated from MTSU in 2008 with a degree in Theory/composition and Piano Performance. Joshua has been teaching since 1997 but this did not become a full-time endeavor until 2008. He has well over ten years of teaching experience. His styles include classical, gospel, contemporary styles, jazz, ambient, and new modern techniques. Over the course of any year he has between 50-75 students and he remains very busy. He can teach by ear and notation, or both if you would prefer. The teaching style he prefers is relaxed and intuitive. So jeans and T-shirts for the student are totally acceptable during lessons. He often goes by Coach Josh to a number of his students. He feels that in the past, stuffiness about the study of piano and music in general has overtaken and stigmatized the learning process. His relaxed approach is in response of such past pretentious attitudes. He has taught all ages, beginners to advanced and all in-between skill levels. He is patient and truly loves teaching. For Joshua, piano instruction is a passion. Give yourself or your child the gift of starting a journey in music. This could be the start of an amazing adventure. The caliber of musical training you or your child will receive will exceed the rates paid for monthly tuition. The basis for every lesson and student is different. That is why an orientation occurs first before lessons begin. His planning and strategy is based on a syllabus that each student receives but it is only used as a blueprint for the learning experience. If it is popular music, hymns, gospel music, or classical training you prefer, or to grow as a pianist, he should be considered. There are a number of time slots available. Look forward to the recitals. They are the talk about town. This year's recital was amazing with almost 200 in attendance. Joshua’s students are just simply the best. Give Joshua a call. Juliette Passalacqua a very talented pianist, teacher and a MTSU student has recently joinedL'sStudio teaching staff. She will be teaching some at home lessons.
