Overview

I am a professional guitarist/bassist with more than 20 years experience playing in bands of various styles including hard rock, metal, country and jazz. I have toured across the U.S. and have shared the stage with acts as varied as Styx, Heart, Foreigner, Corey Smith, Drivin' & Cryin', Seven Mary Three, and Quiet Riot.

*** Lesson Details ***
My students can expect their lessons to be laid back but still goal oriented. I strive to tailor lessons to the personal learning styles and musical preferences of my students. If the student wants to be the next solo-guitar shredder or introspective guitar songwriter, I want to give him/her the tools needed to succeed. After just a few months (with consistent practice at home), my students will be able to not only play along with their favorite songs but will also be able to improvise, jam with other musicians and even start writing their own songs.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide an acoustic guitar for myself. The student would need to provide either an acoustic guitar or electric guitar and amp for their own use, as well as any other music stands, books, etc.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in rock, blues, and country styles; I have some experience in jazz. I can teach simple chords and songs as well as scales, modes and improvisation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Joe is really a good teacher and this has been a great experience so far. He encourages without giving false accolades and helps you identify the areas you need improvement on while remaining patient. I look forward to future lessons. August 1, 2011
Rated 2 out of 5 by My teacher was very cool and down to earth. I liked him a lot however, I ended up bring in my own songs to practice. I got them from a website that I just stumbled upon. I asked him if he could bring some songs in that fit my level but he said he didn't know very many popular songs. I just felt like I was doing part of his job in researching songs to practice. If I didn't we would've just been playing random chords, so I'm very glad that I brought the songs. January 11, 2011
