I have an associates degree in music and I have been teaching lessons for 10 years now. I also have experience as a substitute teacher. As a substitute, I have taught all grades, all subjects, and I have helped out many kinds of students each with their own way of learning. Besides teaching, I love learning too. Anytime I have a question I immediately start seeking out the answer. Learning never stops! *** Lesson Details *** Ever wondered how musicians write music? Why do they make the choices they make? Why do those choices work? Why does music work the way that it does? I can answer all these questions and much more. With me as your guide, I will unlock your musical superpowers and make you capable of things you didn't know were possible. I have many different methods for teaching not only technique, but how to listen, and how to think creatively so that you can unlock your full potential. *** Travel Equipment *** I can provide my guitar, picks, and tuner and that's really all you will need as well. I'll occasionally bring my laptop with me to use some music software to assist in my lessons. I'll always have pens and paper so I can make notes or diagrams if needed. I highly recommend that my students have a spiral notebook so I can more easily cater to them. *** Specialties *** I specialize in many musical genres including rock, ska, punk, progressive, jazz, folk, and more. Music theory is a big part of what I do as it's the universal language of music. If you learn enough theory, you can learn ANY instrument. ***Scheduling*** I'm currently booked up for the most part in the evenings and late afternoons and my availability is always changing. I also take students from all over the Houston area so there are times where the traveling may be too much for me to do for certain days and times. If you are considering working with me, please get in contact with me on here first before purchasing lessons. I can accommodate you so much better and so much easier this way. Thanks for your understanding!

John is incredibly smart about theory and understanding the guitar having worked out his own individual way of learning that he is happy to share his trade secrets.

My son was new guitar player, he has now had several lessons with John. We have seen his skills grown exponentially. John really connects with him and keeps him engaged. He has taught him soo much in such a short span of time. John is a fantastic teacher!
