Lesson Details

My lesson plan will be geared towards your goals as a musician. If are a drummer with many years of experience who is interested in learning hand percussion I am happy to gear you're lessons towards that. If you are a beginner with no experience at all that is also fine! We will begin with a couple of books that will get you going with basic stick technique, and music reading abilities. And if you are just interested in learning a few beats on the drumset I can definitely help you do that as ... well. As a teacher I am extremely patient, as I know that everyone learns at their own pace. That being said, I will encourage you to practice, and to set goals for yourself, as I want you to see progress 3 or 6 months down the road.

I believe sincerely that part of the responsibility of being a professional musician is passing on the knowledge that you have acquired to the next generation of performers, and it also happens to be something I enjoy! Luckily so did my teachers, and I have always felt deeply indebted to them for teaching me. I have 15 years experience teaching and playing drums and latin percussion (congas, timbales, bongo) in the San Francisco Bay Area, and in my career as a performer I have played with ... everyone from Slash (rock), Donna Summer (RnB), to Jesus Diaz (salsa). I have studied classical and jazz percussion at the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music and the esteemed Manhattan School of Music, as well as an extensive tutorial en Cuba, where I studied latin percussion at the national school of art. I hope I have an opportunity to share what I know with you!
