I am currently a professional singer as well as a music teacher here in the Chicago area. While I am in Chicago the majority of the time working and performing, I do travel throughout the US and Europe for performances, which recently have included New York, Hawaii, Indiana, Toronto and Salzburg, Austria. I have studied singing privately for over 13 years in styles ranging from classical and opera, to pop, musical theater and jazz. I have also taken advanced classes on vocal pedagogy and the method behind teaching singing properly and healthily. In addition to singing, I have also studied several languages (Italian, German, French, Spanish), diction, acting/performance, music history, music theory and marketing, which all come together to create the entire package necessary when teaching and performing as a singer. I have also studied piano extensively, having played for over 20 years, and began teaching piano lessons over 10 years ago. I play the piano during the singing lessons that I teach, which is important for warm ups, learning notes and especially the opportunity to sing with live accompaniment. *** Lesson Details *** For me, the most important part of any music lesson is you, the student, and helping you grow and learn based one your unique interest in music. Whether you already love singing or playing, or just want to try something new, I will make sure to find a balance of pieces that will help you grow technically as a musician, and the styles that you really enjoy or that drew you to music in the first place. Because of this, the actual curriculum of the lessons I teach will vary greatly depending on your level and what genre of singing or piano you are interested in learning. I do expect my students to work on their assigned music over the week and to come prepared to all of their lessons because it takes a sense of curiosity and commitment towards music and practicing if you want to improve. However, if you encounter problems with a certain part of a piece that you can't get past, or something big comes up during the week, all you have to do is let me know and come with questions that we can work through together during your lesson. *** Studio Equipment *** Full weighted Keyboard, in the studio room with seating for parents *** Travel Equipment *** I expect students to have a piano or full keyboard if I am going to travel to their house.
