Lesson Details

I believe that learning music should be both FUN and very EDUCATING. I do not have a set curriculum for every student. Each student is different and requires a different method and approach. I like to incorporate a student's influences and musical tastes into my teachings so that it is enjoyable and exciting. Nonetheless, I make sure to teach strong fundamentals, good timing (with a metronome), and a ear training for the instrument. I like to encourage independent listening and practicing on a ... daily basis for every student, and hope to bridge the gap between what I teach and what the student enjoys about music. Most of all, I want to inspire the student to be excited about learning. I understand that every person has different amounts of free time, so I encourage an amount of practicing that is fair and attainable.

Hello, my name is Jimmy and I teach bass and guitar lessons. I also teach piano, but only a beginner level. I have been performing, recording, and writing music for over 15 years and can teach a wide variety of styles including rock, pop, blues, jazz, reggae, funk, latin, and many more. I have played in a range of different bands/artists throughout my career including such acts as The Fray, Rose Hill Drive, Flobots, Cary Brothers, Meese, Crosby Loggins, John Common, Hello Kavita, and many ... more. In addition, I have had the pleasure to play numerous gigs both nationally and around the world as well as popular TV shows such as Jay Leno, David Letterman, Conan O'Brian, Good Morning America, Ellen, Craig Ferguson, and many others. I feel through different situations such as recording, performing, writing, teaching, and learning music, I can teach many different aspects of playing an instrument. I enjoy teaching students who are eager to learn and hope to share my knowledge with them!

I have a degree in music performance and music industry studies from the University of Colorado at Denver and I've been teaching music for 7 years. Also, I myself have been taking lessons from many different teachers throughout my 13 years of playing. From this, I feel I have great experience from both the teacher and student's perspective, and use that to teach in a very effective and diverse approach.
