“If a man empties his purse into his head, no one can take it away from him. An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.” – Benjamin Franklin What my students will gain from lessons: My role is as a listening and learning coach, through the lens of a musical instrument: my students learn methods to exercise logic and critical thinking skills, analyze whatever challenge they are facing, and to break down challenges into manageable components so they can succeed in all areas of life. About my teaching style: I emphasize a fun, goal-oriented approach to learning. Not everyone learns in the same way. In my 15+ years spent as a musician, I've developed a coaching style that is tailored to fit each each student. Education: • University of North Carolina School of the Arts • Berklee College of Music • University of Virginia (BA - Music) • Belmont University (Graduate Studies) • Suzuki Training (Every Child Can, Violin Book 1) Performance Experience: I've performed extensively since turning pro at the age of 15. My experience includes studio, orchestral, and chamber music; I've performed and studied with artists such as Roy “Futureman” Wooten (drummer for Bela Fleck and The Flecktones), Tracy Silverman (Grammy-winner, Turtle Island String Quartet, Eclectica), Jean-Luc Ponty (Grammy nominee, Chick Corea), and Matt Glaser (Ken Burns’ The Civil War).

Jen was a great violin teacher to my now 9 year old twin boys. Very understanding, patient and knows her stuff! We love that she is flexible and tailored each lesson to each of my sons needs.
