Subjects Taught In Person
Temple University - Communications - 2006-2010 (Bachelor's degree received)
Classical and Rock guitar. Emphasizing sight reading and listening skills.
The first couple of lessons will consist of learning about the guitar, the music staff, reading musical notation, and working on dexterity. However, this should not discourage the student, everyone needs to start somewhere. Even your favorite guitarist began with the same exercises I will be showing you! I have a very laid back attitude; however, I am also very honest, and honestly the only way you can learn guitar is with practice. If the student dedicates themselves, and practices regularly
within months they will be learning to form chords, make chord changes, and even learn to play a few familiar songs!
My name is Jason. I began playing guitar when I was 10 years old, and have been practicing intensely ever since. The hardest part was getting started. As a young child I was interested in the guitar; however, my parents were hesitant to buy one for me, because they were convinced that learning an instrument took patience, dedication, and a strong work ethic. After 5 years of begging I received my first guitar as a gift one glorious Christmas morning, but I had no idea what to do with the thing!
I enrolled in lessons, which provided a great starting point. Beginning lessons introduced the basics of guitar technique, and music theory giving me the necessary tools to continue studying on my own. I have played in bands for over 10 years. I am an amateur song writer, and I take lessons myself. I believe there is always more to learn, and with the right teacher the possibilities are endless. I have been with the Take Lesson's Co. since 2011. My goal is to provide a starting point for students who are just beginning, so they can turn their interest in the guitar into a fervid passion. Just like I did!
In-Home: I can provide an amplifier if necessary. The student will have to provide their own guitar, and will have to purchase the books.
Rated 5 out of 5 by 1
Rated 5 out of 5 by ChrisS Jason is great. He is always prompt, prepared, and patient with my daughter. She loves her lessons and Jason is a big part of that.

Prepare for Your First Lesson

you with directions to their studio, if needed. We also encourage you
to discuss your goals and any other questions you may have.
What To Expect
Every teacher is different, but most first lessons begin with an
assessment of where you are in your studies. At a beginner level, you
might review the basics of your instrument, such as the different
parts, how to hold it correctly, and proper care and maintenance. For
voice, this may be the time you learn about breathing and posture.
