Guitar with Jaren S.

Hello :) my name is Jaren, I am 22 years old. I currently play in a band from Greeley, Colorado called Harkener. I started playing guitar at the age of 12, I learned on an acoustic guitar at first but quickly found that I liked the electric guitar a lot better. After I got the basics down I then found my acoustic guitar calling my name, and from there I was taught all kinds of unique acoustic guitar techniques from various people that I would love to teach to you! I have been teaching guitar and bass guitar professionally for four years now, I absolutely love teaching! I come from a christian background, being that my dad is a pastor, and that influences my teaching style. Instead of being rigid like some of the teachers I have had in the past, I truly just want to make sure that the student is having fun and enjoying the lesson. Learning an instrument shouldn't be a pain but rather a source of joy and confidence. My mom is a music therapist, so I also have knowledge as to the comfort and healing that music can offer as well. I am very patient and understanding when it comes to learning and/or learning difficulties and I promise that together we can work through any difficulty or problems that you have with learning the instrument, whether it be physical limitations or inexperience, I can teach anyone, everyone and I would love to teach and get to know you! :) *** Lesson Details *** In a typical lesson students can expect to laugh and have fun enjoying their instrument and the curriculum we are using to learn with! I will typically break up the lesson into parts consisting of, the curriculum, songwriting, playing by ear, and constructive creativity. I do that in order to not overwhelm the student with too much information all at the same time, and to alleviate the stress of having a lot to work on throughout the week. Everything we go through that week will be dated in their curriculum as well as written in a notebook that I can provide that the student can take home with them. I am definitely laid back when it comes to practice and the lesson, its all about enjoying your instrument and if the student doesn't have time to practice that's okay. The lesson is all about you! :) I don't want anyone to feel like they have to do something, but I will encourage practice as well as instill personal pride, accomplishment, motivation and confidence. :) *** Studio Equipment *** I do not currently have a studio *** Travel Equipment *** I can provide lesson materials, books, notebooks etc if you cant afford it, and an instrument for the lesson day of but not to borrow. I expect the student to have an instrument to practice with. *** Specialties *** I specialize in creative writing, teaching the student the confidence to be able to begin writing their own music. I also specialize in acoustic guitar techniques, variations on strumming patterns, accents, builds and tear downs, adding percussion hits into the strum pattern with a palm muting technique, essentially creating that big band sound with only you and your guitar, giving the song its own flow and atmosphere.
