James is a recent graduate who received his Bachelor of Arts in Music with an emphasis in education at Cal Poly Pomona. While at Cal Poly Pomona he was the Director of the Bronco Pep Band, a student conductor for the Concert Band, and also performed with many ensembles including the Jazz Band, Latin/Salsa Band, and the Songwriter Showcase. *** Lesson Details *** I am a laid back person that believes in the philosophy of "Learn by doing". To me mistakes are not to be shunned but are to be reflected upon in order to improve and develop. Students will learn to be patient when playing music as all things take time. Rome was not built in a day. My students will learn to be versatile musicians with knowledge in theory and musicianship. After spending time with me students will be able to demonstrate their knowledge of music theory and be capable of sight reading basic material. More advanced students will be able to improvise using scales and be able to master the fundamentals of their instrument or their voice. *** Travel Equipment *** Travel Equipment Includes: Laptop, Sheet Music, Guitar, Trumpet, Portable Piano Keyboard. *** Specialties *** Classical, Jazz, Blues, Rock, Songwriting, Brass Instruments

Great Music Teacher! James is teaching my daughter how to play the guitar. I'm really pleased with the progress my daughter is making as a result of James' teaching. He knows his guitar and many other facets of music! He is also patient and can properly explain concepts in a way that is easily understood. When it was time for my daughter to buy her own guitar and accessories, James was very helpful with recommendations. He is very professional and has a friendly personality. His influence in my daughter's life has heightened her enthusiasm for both playing the guitar and music in general.

Great teacher James is an excellent teacher. My daughter has been taking piano lessons from James and she has learned so much in just a few months. He has great communication skills and has a gift for teaching. I have recommend him and I will continue to recommend him to other future music students.
